Pastor Melvin
Gipson oversees the food pantry at Hilltop Worship Center on
Wednesdays from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Jesus took the loaves
and when He had given thanks He distributed to the disciples and the
disciples to the reclining people; so also with the small fish, as
much as they wanted. When they all had enough, He said to his
disciples, Gather up now the fragments– the broken pieces that are
left over– so that nothing may be lost and wasted. (John 6:11-12
Amplified)
The Basket is a
food pantry that ministers to those in need of physical and spiritual
nourishment. Jesus told the crowd that they didn’t seek Him because of
miracles and signs, but because they were fed with the loaves and
filled.
Many people
initially come to CareCenter for the same reason. The ministry of the
Basket satisfies their physical needs, while creating an awareness of
a deeper hunger that can only be filled by the Bread of Life. Our
mission is to gather up the broken pieces, so that none may be lost or
wasted.
This ministry is
currently meeting the needs of approximately three thousand
individuals per month.. Ministry teams present the gospel to those
willing to receive spiritual food and we are seeing tremendous
results. Every week, God is touching lives through this ministry.
People come to us for food and leave with the peace of salvation
through Jesus Christ.
The bulk of the
food is purchased from the North Texas Food Bank for fourteen cents
per pound. Because of this, your contributions can be used to help
many people.
