Where
there is no vision, the people perish; (Prov.
29:18 KJV)
OUR VISION: Raising up
people in a diverse urban community who know, worship and obey
God.
CareCenter Ministries was established in 1986 to address the
issues of addiction, poverty and crime through the power of the
gospel of Jesus Christ. We have been called to a ministry of
reconciliation, transformation, and restoration.
The poor
and needy are seeking water when there is none; their tongue is
parched with thirst. I, the LORD will answer them; I, the God
of Israel, will not forsake them. I will open rivers on the bare
heights, and fountains in the midst of the valleys; I will make
the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of
water. (Isaiah 41:17-18 Amplified)

Changing Lives |
 |
After several years of a lifestyle revolving around drugs and
alcohol, Wes Graham found himself spiraling out of control. His
family was falling apart and his job was on the line. On two
different occasions he had taken a leave of absence from work;
once for two weeks, again for 30 days, in an attempt to deal with
his problem through secular-based rehab programs recommended to
him by his probation officer. Even though one was sponsored by a
church, they were AA based 12-step programs. “They all told me I
had a disease, and that I would have it for the rest of my life,”
Wes said.
In August of 2007, he reluctantly entered CareCenter’s RACE
Program. “I didn’t want to make the commitment at first,” Wes
explained. The RACE program is a twelve month commitment to
change. During Phase One, God began breaking down Wes’ inner
beliefs. Wes began to examine what he truly believed about
spiritual authority and about the healing power of God. “I found
support from leaders in the program, who told me the things I
needed to hear,” he said.
As he progressed in the program, God began repairing his mindset
through immersion in the Word and the therapy of work. As his
relationship with the Lord grew, he experienced healing of what he
had been taught was a disease.
As God was restoring his mind, He was also restoring his family.
His wife, Christina, wrote the ministry in order to express her
thanks for how her husband had been helped. In her letter she
said, “Throughout the first six months of the program, I began to
see a radical transformation in the way my husband approached
life. The spirit of God had captivated him and began breaking down
strongholds and refashioning his heart. I saw a man being set free
from years of addiction, years of anger and pride. Our marriage
was being restored and made new. I thank God that He has given me
my husband back, drug free, and filled with the Holy Ghost! Thank
you CareCenter Ministries for giving our family the opportunity to
be changed and transformed, that we might declare His praises to
generations to come.”
Last month Wes graduated from the RACE program and gave his
testimony in a ceremony during the Sunday service at Hilltop
Worship Center. Surrounded by family and friends, he encouraged
other men in the program to finish their race as well.
God moved miraculously, not only keeping his job after a year long
leave of absence, but giving him an opportunity for promotion. He
has been reunited with his wife and daughter, and the Grahams have
recently moved into their first home in McKinney. They are now
expecting a new baby. As CareCenter moves into outreach ministry
in the Bruton Oaks Apartments, Wes Graham will be there,
ministering to children every other week during Sidewalk Sunday
School. |
